How magic can feel like home

Magic has been a big part of my life. The small things that are encountered everyday make me feel happy. Happiness is something that we all want and all want more of. To each person it means something different and I know there will be people out there who have no idea what I am talking about that magic can feel like home. Honestly, I am not talking to those people…

Those who know, know. I am glad you are here and reading this. You are my kind of people.

Magic can feel like home is something I have said to people who question why I have a Harry Potter collection and other magical items. Some get it, some don’t.

To me, it is a feeling that I can get wherever I am and however I may be feeling at the time.

This can be from a big statement piece I have at home, a small keyring out and about or getting lost in a book. A feeling of magic and sixth sense has been more apparent for me in the last few years and as I grow older, the stronger it gets.

I have found that when I am out somewhere new, in a stressful situation or pushing myself to do something new, having a keyring that gives me that magical feeling of home is settling.

This experience of magic is all about finding the little things that bring you joy throughout the day and making it feel comforting. A special mug to use for a morning drink. I have 2 special mugs that give me joy: 1 from the Harry Potter Studio Tour in London, and 1 from The Lost Cauldron shop in Matlock.

Just this simple act can bring so much calm and joy to the day. These little moments help to support in times of chaos and worry.

What’s one little thing at home that always feels magical to you? Share it in the comments!

Anxiety is something that I can suffer with and the magical world around us is something that helps me to control it and live a much happier life. A life where worry does not take over, accept that it makes me happy and makes me feel calm. Not to worry about what others think and if it is the right thing to do/feel. It works for me and it has gotten me through some really tough times.

There are many ways that I have tried over the years to find little moments of magic for me personally that others are not aware of. It is a personal thing that I know a lot of people don’t get, so making it meaningful to me is important.

I have a variety of things now from little trinkets around the house (not too on show), a sticker inside my car, to my book cases. I am constantly looking at ways to improve and change to make it better but this is what I have kept the most.

If this is something that you do not currently have or do, I highly recommend that you start. See the difference it can make to you, just to add a little extra joy to your day. Start out small and see how you feel.

A simple way to get the feeling is to start a “Magic area”

Fill a small box or space with objects that make you feel joyful or grounded: a postcard, an old key, a photo, a quote scribbled on paper. Open it or explore it when you need a reminder of what matters. In my home, I try to make different areas but mainly it is my bookcases (see below).

Just like a wand casting a quiet spell, small moments—fleeting and often overlooked—can shift your entire day. Lighting your favorite candle, finding a feather on your morning walk, or slipping on that whimsical piece of jewelry that just feels lucky or special. These aren’t just coincidences—they’re tiny spells of happiness, waiting to be noticed.

It is these that make magic feel more like home and that can be felt anywhere.

These are growing all the time and I am moving this every now and again. For things to make the shelf I have to get a ‘feel’ about it. Just taking moments in the day to look and appreciate adds a little joy in the moment. The simplicity of looking at a page in one of your favourite books.

I would encourage all who read this to give it a chance, really think about the little things that make you happy, others may not get it, but who cares.

Spirituality

Tarot is something that I have grown a real love for in the last 3 years and in the last year I have been learning to become a tarot reader with a lot of success personally. This is now part of my daily routine and it is special to me. The time and resources I have hand picked is a sense of home, power and guidance.

I am at the point where I cannot imagine my life without it moving forward. This is an area I will go deeper in in future posts as I have learnt so much and am still learning.

Watch out for my monthly general readings for you!

I may even put some random readings on my socials (Instagram, Facebook and Pinterest). It would be great for you to get involved, leave a comment, send me a DM!

As a final parting today:

What’s one small magical ritual or item in your home you can’t live without? Tell us in the comments—or share your story in a post and tag us!

Mine would have to be my magical wand collection. Some may call me sad but it makes me happy and it shows the different characteristics they all can have. It is something I have built up for over 20 years.

As you can see above I have displayed them in a way that I can see them (this is only a small part of the collection…)

I would really like to get to know you all and hear your story of what our magical world means to you. Please share in the comments, Facebook page, Instagram or Pinterest. I endeavour to respond to all comments and DM’s.

There is so much with this topic that I can share and build with you. Over time, I will be going in-depth in many areas of our magical world and how it can have a dramatic impact on your life as I does on mine.

Remember magic can never be taken away from you and how it makes you feel.

Stay Magical,

Jonathan 🙂
